Egypt & Jordan 12/2012

To call it a trip of a lifetime is an understatement.  I cannot recommend or insist enough, that if you have a passion for antiquities, mystery sites, pyramids, that you must go to Egypt and see the sites in person, for yourself. Photos, documentaries, etc, these methods cannot capture it's vast splendor. I was fortunate to be able to go for an extended vacation/ research trip at the end of 2012. The culture, the people, but especially what remains of the Pyramid builder's monuments leave you breathless. The artistry, the detail, the wisdom etched in every wall of every site. I'll be posting some photos here, with more to come. The photos so far are of the Sphinx, Pyramid at Giza, the Nile at Sunset-(2 pics), on my way to Abu Garab, & sarcophagus of Horus are all in Egypt. The 1 camel garage, boy with camel , the donkey ride & the Treasury are in Petra-Jordan, the arch is at Jarash-Jordan, and the camels in desert are at Wadi Rum-Jordan. The man in cave serving tea & plate of food are in Petra.( not in that order) The food was made by a Bedouin, who invited us up to a private cave for lunch! We took a donkey to get up there, fun!
Our trip had 2 archeological experts in Egypt, they had different views at times which was very enlightening & provided a lot of food for thought. Our group became very close, and some of us remain in touch.  I hope to go back, it was amazing.Enjoy a glimpse of this fabulous trip!

FotoFocus Cincinnati: Exposed: Expectation, Experimentation, Exploration

I was invited to participate in FotoFocus in Cincinatti, which is quite an extensive photography exhibit being held in galleries all over the city. I submitted one of my favorite street photographs. It was taken in Bali, Indonesia. I had but mere seconds to take it, and luckily this kiddie balloon dude had to slow down at a light. I am so happy I caught this fleeting moment of this man. Scooters are an integral part of this beautiful country, this was just one of many situations that can be seen daily on the streets and highways of Bali. If you are in the Cincinnati area, be sure to check out this event showcasing the work of various photographers and artists from all over the U.S.. It runs through October 26th, 2012 at various venues, including the Park National Bank Gallery. Curated by Kim Taylor and Nikki Vargas.

Carsland is awesome!

I finally got a chance to test drive Carsland at DCA. What a treat! The new addition blows away (imho) the rest of the park. So much attention to detail, love and artistic details make Carsland a complete success. The rest of Eisner's park looks boring and lackluster. We went early in the day and loved the look of it, but decided we needed to return at sunset for it was clear that neon would rule the evening. Carsland adds 3 new fun rides to DCA; Luigi's Flying Tires, Radiator Springs Racers and The Tow Mater ride. The Tow Mater ride looks like a silly Knott's type kiddie ride. We dismissed it in the morning, but then we tried it in the evening, and we laughed our heads off on it. It is deceptive in its appearance, you must try it!
A few of my photos from my Carsland trip are available on canvas for purchase at;

Comic Con 2012-The Con of the ages? The Con at the end of time? or just an excuse to aquire more stuff?

Packing up and getting ready to head out for Comic Con 2012!
Its been 2 years since I was there, missed last year in order to take a photo workshop. But boy did I miss it! Never again. Here is a photo I took by the wharf in Sand Diego during my visit in 2010. There is a group of really cool sculptures along the wharf there, beautiful stuff.

I'm really looking forward to capturing some new classic Comic Con photos this year, always some special Cosplay treats awaiting us.
But I'm not looking forward to this, every year it's getting more & more crowded.

But where else can you pose with a Clone Wars Bobble head thats taller than you? Gotta love it.

My tour of Lucasfilm Animation plus Skywalker Ranch

I was able to take another tour of Skywalker Ranch-( 3rd photo down from top) & Lucasfilm Animation home of The Clone Wars animation recently. This fountain-(top photo) is 1 of 2 that bracket the lovely Yoda bronze-(2nd photo) by sculptor Lawrence Noble. The sculpture & fountains are at the entrance to Lucasfilm Animation. I had the honor of meeting Larry Noble at an art opening that same weekend, what a treat! It was a Star Wars filled weekend for me, got to have dinner with John Rinzler-editor of many Lucasfilm books on one night, dinner with concept artist Mark Gabbana on another, hang out with Pat Presley-concept artist for The Clone Wars and  Pak Han-photographer and Star Wars art collector. What fun.

Valentine Treats

These are a couple of photos from my 'Valentine Treats' album. What a fun exercise! Just shooting away with my handy Droid! If only my DSLR were that portable! Photos from this album are on display in Second Life at a Gallery called 'Fotografio'-(see below for more info) Inspiration? Valentines of course! February is upon us which means Valentine's Day is almost here! Astrologically I heard that we are entering Aquarius, while we have just entered the Year of the Dragon from the Chinese calendar, and of course its the notorious 2012! What a blissful month this is going to be. I wish you all lots of love this Valentines month!

Senior Portrait

Been toiling away, learning as much as possible about the ins & outs of photography. So much to still learn. I've been practicing any chance I get. I took some shots of my beautiful cousin while visiting her in Nevada a few months ago. There are so many shots of her that turned out well, but this was her favorite. She decided she wanted to add this to her Senior portraits to give out as wallets. I'm so honored!

Eaton Canyon

Wow, time flies! I went to Bali for 3 weeks late last year, the holidays came and went, and now Easter and springtime are upon us. I've been enjoying some time off, relaxing, getting chores done and working on my photography. Really loving playing around with cameras and images.
I've been trying to get my exercise going, so I started hiking again. So lovely! Due to all the rain, there are flowing streams & waterfalls right here, near Pasadena!
I always forget, you don't have to drive for hours to get away, or hike doggie poo Runyon Canyon either. I took the photo above at Eaton Canyon, Altadena. Enjoy spring everyone!

Testing the waters of the DSLR world

So its been a long while! Yes, my new job is keeping me way too busy. Not that anyone is reading this. Blogger's counter says that basically, almost no one has come to read my blog since I last checked, yet the counter on the front page of my blog shows 500+ more people than Blogger's counter?? Weird! Anyway, with my constant search for new creative endeavors, it has resulted in producing some photography attempts. I was always into photography, but had not yet jumped into the DSLR area. Well now I have, and have quickly outgrown the camera I bought last summer. Although, there is still much to learn of course! I've been meeting some great new people, & I must say the photography community has been really welcoming and supportive! Here are some pics from some photo shoots I've attended with the SoCal Photo club.
