October Shadows V~ Halloween Exhibit

October Shadows art from Creaturefeatures.com
Just found out one of my past Halloween Tiki pieces, "Tiki Devil" is on display at
October Shadows V .
October 7th was a private opening reception for the artists and I assure you the show is amazing! I am so honored to be a part of this annual event! This years October Shadows is a "BEST OF" from past shows. There are many classic pieces done by superb Halloween artists, and a few never before seen & a few new pieces too. If you haven't been to one of these, you should go, its fantastic art in a fabulous venue.
This year’s show takes place at;
Mountain View Mausoleum, 2300 N. Marengo Avenue in Altadena, CA 91001
The exhibit will be open to the public for viewing each Saturday & Sunday from Saturday, October 13th thru November 3rd.
The venue itself is a creepy delight.

FotoFocus Cincinnati: Exposed: Expectation, Experimentation, Exploration

 I was invited to participate in FotoFocus in Cincinatti, which is quite an extensive photography exhibit being held in galleries all over the city. I submitted one of my favorite street photographs. It was taken in Bali, Indonesia. I had but mere seconds to take it, and luckily this kiddie balloon dude had to slow down at a light. I am so happy I caught this fleeting moment of this man. Scooters are an integral part of this beautiful country, this was just one of many situations that can be seen daily on the streets and highways of Bali. If you are in the Cincinnati area, be sure to check out this event showcasing the work of various photographers and artists from all over the U.S.. It runs through October 26th, 2012 at various venues, including the Park National Bank Gallery. Curated by Kim Taylor and Nikki Vargas.

"Drawing the Line" Art Show signage (by Matthew Hernandez)

Red Eye Art book can be seen on stand through the gallery entrance.

Our display. (framed piece by Matthew Board on right)

Red Eye Art is a group of present and past Simpson artists which I am a part of. Our Red Eye Art's first book was on display this month of May 2011, at the Clermont Art Gallery in Ohio, at the "Drawing the Line; art of comics, illustration, animation" art show. According to the curator of the show Kim Taylor, the show was a success and inspiring to the students. A print of "Tiki Devil" by me-(SleepyTiki) which is in the art book, was also on display along with the Red Eye Art group's book. The Red Eye Art group and I send a heartfelt thanks to Kim Taylor & the Clermont College Gallery for inviting us to participate in this awesome show of multi-talented artists.

Gallery Girls Annual Figurative Group Show

In early March of this year, I exhibited a photo at the Gallery Girls Annual Figurative Group Show in collaboration with Gallery Godo. All mediums were accepted, but it had to be from one of the Gallery Girls events. The photo was taken at the Bali workshop in Palos Verdes. What a great show! Lots of beautiful sketches, paintings, sculptures & drawings from the past year's Gallery Girls workshops around the city. Have to try to fit more drawing workshops into the ol' schedule.
