Carsland is awesome!

I finally got a chance to test drive Carsland at DCA. What a treat! The new addition blows away (imho) the rest of the park. So much attention to detail, love and artistic details make Carsland a complete success. The rest of Eisner's park looks boring and lackluster. We went early in the day and loved the look of it, but decided we needed to return at sunset for it was clear that neon would rule the evening. Carsland adds 3 new fun rides to DCA; Luigi's Flying Tires, Radiator Springs Racers and The Tow Mater ride. The Tow Mater ride looks like a silly Knott's type kiddie ride. We dismissed it in the morning, but then we tried it in the evening, and we laughed our heads off on it. It is deceptive in its appearance, you must try it!
A few of my photos from my Carsland trip are available on canvas for purchase at;

Bilbo & Gandalf 3d lenticular posters at The Hobbit booth

Here is a quick glimpse of a few of the 3d lenticular posters that were on display at The Hobbit booth at Comic Con 2012. I really wish I had the time to capture them all and with better video, but I was in a hurry. So glad I saw them, they were facing the wall on the back. I wonder if they will be for sale?

Some other fun things seen @ Comic-Con 2012

Basically anything you can imagine is being peddled at the Con...

Some of my fave Cosplay costumes @ ComiCon

Comic Con is now full of mass produced merchandise, brands, celebs, big movie & game studios, but my favorite stuff is still the personal creativity expressed by the artist/creator, through sketchbooks, art books, original art,  but I especially love the Cosplay costumes! Here is just a hint of what I came across.

Comic Con 2012-The Con of the ages? The Con at the end of time? or just an excuse to aquire more stuff?

Packing up and getting ready to head out for Comic Con 2012!
Its been 2 years since I was there, missed last year in order to take a photo workshop. But boy did I miss it! Never again. Here is a photo I took by the wharf in Sand Diego during my visit in 2010. There is a group of really cool sculptures along the wharf there, beautiful stuff.

I'm really looking forward to capturing some new classic Comic Con photos this year, always some special Cosplay treats awaiting us.
But I'm not looking forward to this, every year it's getting more & more crowded.

But where else can you pose with a Clone Wars Bobble head thats taller than you? Gotta love it.

My tour of Lucasfilm Animation plus Skywalker Ranch

I was able to take another tour of Skywalker Ranch-( 3rd photo down from top) & Lucasfilm Animation home of The Clone Wars animation recently. This fountain-(top photo) is 1 of 2 that bracket the lovely Yoda bronze-(2nd photo) by sculptor Lawrence Noble. The sculpture & fountains are at the entrance to Lucasfilm Animation. I had the honor of meeting Larry Noble at an art opening that same weekend, what a treat! It was a Star Wars filled weekend for me, got to have dinner with John Rinzler-editor of many Lucasfilm books on one night, dinner with concept artist Mark Gabbana on another, hang out with Pat Presley-concept artist for The Clone Wars and  Pak Han-photographer and Star Wars art collector. What fun.
